Reddit charles barkley wife1/25/2024 ![]() I mean, hell, a rarely appreciated chunk of value to every NBA contract is explicitly that this guy is no longer able to play against us, whether or not he plays for us). You get far more power to determine your pay, hours, equipment, location, etc etc, and you don't even have to demand a trade if you want one, you are free to do it yourself if a competitor wants to hire you (in lieu of some contractual limitations in certain situations in certain industries, of course - but even then, don't want to work, don't work. This isn't a problem.Īnd, hold on, lets be real if you are actually this good at a 'normal' profession, you damn well can make far more demands of your employer than a typical employee. They're not replaceable, so they have the power to make demands like trade requests. We don't watch just to see basketball being played by someone, we explicitly watch to see it played by LeBron, Curry, Giannis, Durant, et al. It is not a normal provision of a good or service the players are the service. so i say fuck the star player, he can cry himself to sleep in his hundred million dollar mansion, i would rather see that extra 2-5 million that they're so desperate for go to the fringe roster guys and practice squad guys. these are the guys the NFLPA should be fighting for, these are the guys the fans should be fighting for, and these are the guys who get fucked in the ass when the top 5 players on every team are eating up ridiculous chunks of cap space fully guaranteed every year. the other dudes are putting their bodies on the line too, and they're doing it so they can make league minimum. you just can't have everyone on the roster being fully guaranteed, too many injuries, too many guys needing to be replaced, it would be a nightmare.Īlso i constantly see the NFLPA criticized because they aren't catering to the star players (the guys who will make tens to hundreds of millions of dollars in the NFL), but in reality they shouldn't be. also the other thing is this - guys could argue for fully guaranteed if they wanted, or at least much higher guaranteed. even QB's are struggling to get fully guaranteed contracts. Needing to have 53 guys on the roster and having a hard cap with no option of a luxury tax makes fully guaranteed contracts basically a non starter. ![]() The fact that the NFL of all sports (and it is the only major sport as far as I know) doesn't have guaranteed contracts is ridiculous and the NFL players union should be ashamed of themselves.
